Happy Thanksgiving

Michelle prepared a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. Below are the two boys’ dishes. We always thank God for one thing each after dinner, so today we gave everyone extra time to thank God for His goodness. Joshua asked to pray, and it was a joy to hear him talking to God with childlike faith. Mommy even cried a little.

…and Hula Hoop?

After church tonight Joshua saw some of the older children playing with hula hoops. He joined in and did a pretty good job for his age. Of course now I know what he’ll say when I ask what he learned at church tonight.

Trip to Ohio

We traveled to Ohio last week for a Cross family reunion and a couple days of relaxing. One fun part of the visit was watching the kids interact with their relatives. James especially enjoyed his Papa Charlie, sitting on his lap and playing with toys.

Goodbye old friend

We said goodbye to our old recliner today. It has served us well for two babies and a couple surgeries. Though both arm rests are connected by a thread and the footrest opened of its own accord, we place the chair by the road with mixed feelings. James had an especially hard time saying a final farewell.

A special thanks to the Hendersons who gave us the chair about 5 years ago.

The competition begins

Joshua and James are playing their first Wii competition without help from Daddy. For those who are interested, the were racing cows on Wii Play. Joshua finished in 1st and loudly declared, “I beat James!” Thus it begins…

After a decade of graduate and post-graduate work, CJ received his diploma for his doctor of philosophy degree in church history. It is a measure of God’s grace that during that decade our family increased by two wonderful little boys, as a family we had five surgeries, we spent nearly two months traveling for doctor appointments, and we moved to a new ministry.
I want to thank my wife for her help, patience, and sacrifice. Thank you also to Drs. Beale and Sidwell for their comments and direction during the writing process. I also thank my parents and the many other friends and family members that encouraged me in this pursuit.

Our New Swing Set

We’ve been saving up money from the kid’s birthdays and Christmas in order to get them a swing set. They really seem to enjoy it! Thanks to all those who have helped out with your gifts.

Joshua Turns 3

Children’s Museum

Daddy finally had a day off work when he didn’t have to work on the dissertation!!! (it’s done by the way.) We decided to take the kids to Raleigh’s Marble Children’s Museum. They are having a blast! Here are a couple pictures.
